If you receive a beautiful bouquet of flowers from a loved one, you want it to last as long as it possibly can. There are some things that you can do to ensure that it sustains its life as long as possible so you can enjoy the beautiful flowers for even longer.
Put the flowers in a vase that is filled with water. Purchase some flower food from a florist in your area and put in the water. When you notice that the water has become cloudy, completely replace the water and flower food. If you do not replace the water, bacteria will start to grow, which will make the flowers wilt and die. You can also re-cut the stems on the flowers to make them last longer. Use a sharp knife and cut approximately one to two inches of the stem from the bottom of the flower.
Flowers should always be kept in a cool and dry place between 65 and 72 degrees F. Do not place them near any direct sunlight, or near any type of cooling or heating vents. Do not place the vase of flowers on top or near a radiator or your TV, or do not place them directly below any type of ceiling fan. These types of appliances radiate heat, which will make the flowers dry up quicker.
